The initiators

As an investigative journalist, Burkhart List was instrumental in exposing major scandals and affairs.
Not only in his native Austria, but also in Germany and worldwide in South Africa, Lebanon, Panama. He now sees himself as a researcher and historian who has located the stolen masterpieces in this historic mine and wants to explore the entire site. He has spent more than 20 years researching the Nazi art theft and published the book “Die Affäre Deutsch” in 2018. His research had already led him to Deutschkatharinenberg years ago.

Burkhart’s partner in the Sachsen Projekt is Gerald Ungar from East Berlin. Gerald was co-editor on the book “Die Affäre Deutsch” and was involved in the Saxony Project from the beginning. In night-long discussions, all aspects were illuminated and analysed. His professional experience in the construction industry was always useful and still is. He currently works in a senior position in a construction company in Berlin.

Why crowdfunding?

Burkhart List

The lost treasures of the past have fascinated millions of people for decades. Few, however, can fulfil the dream of participating in a project that aims to recover immeasurably valuable artefacts that have been missing for many years.

You now have the opportunity to participate in the largest project of its kind. In order to make the SACHSEN PROJECT a success, it needs funding. For my partners, it is not so important how many artefacts the find will have. That is not always a matter of course. But it is the only way to meet the high demands that this topic places on all of us. Before the final phase of the project, we invite you to participate with a financial donation, in the certainty that you are supporting something good and long overdue. In doing so, you will be contributing to a morally and politically clean cause that will have many positive consequences.

For thousands of masterpieces of art, created by great people of all eras, have still disappeared to this day. No state pays enough attention to this fact. Germany and Austria have never lifted a finger to find secret SS storage sites.

It is all the more fascinating when people all over the world are now helping to bring the looted and lost art treasures to light and thus save this world cultural heritage for posterity.

This summer, with your help, we will begin the final stage of the project.

Our goal is 50,000 euros. Every contribution counts!
